While they may appear sedentary, he porcupine caribou makes one of the longest migrations of all mammal species, covering 2400 km annually.

Caribou are know to 'run to death' - that is run from the relentless biting of thousands of mosquitoes. Losing precious grazing and fattening opportunity means certain death in the winter.
